Timmy - feat. The Insulting Monkey By Innovation Dreams AB iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

Timmy is one of those apps that seems to have slipped under the radar for awhile now. The developer quotes that it's similar to Angry Birds in the description, so those of you who hate apps that are similar to blockbuster games like Angry Birds and Mario, slowly hit the back button. The game plays very similar to Angry Birds, except you're are a tank, and you need to blow up the Insulting Monkey. If you're are gun shooting app lover, it's nice to be able to use different weapons like missiles, grenades, and sticky bombs. While choosing the correct velocity and angle, you need to blow up the Insulting Monkey and his Banana Warriors!
To keep the screen filled with some physics, you have your usual blocks and walls you can knock down as well. This game isn't too shabby, and I like that the Innovation Dreams AB developer started out with no programming experience, and just picked up a book. Gives me a little hope that someday I can learn too! So if you enjoyed Angry Birds but would like some explosions, check out Timmy - feat. The Insulting Monkey. How could you not download something from a developer who also has a Yo Momma Jokes app!

Catapult King By Chillingo iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

Catapult King immediately caught my eye because of the amazing 3-D graphics. Take Angry Birds, inject it with steroids, and add some knights, castles, dragons, and a princess to rescue. You're behind a catapult staring out at a beautiful green scenery of box castles and nose picking little knights to knock down with cannonballs. The sound and realistic controls as you stretch back on your catapult are perfect.
You can stretch any direction, slide the camera view around your fantasy world to hit a pesky knight in the family jewels, and even change the angle of your catapult. As you get through 64 different levels, you can win cannonballs like Earth Shock, Lunar Strike, and enchant your catapult to really do some damage. If your an app junky like me, you have definitely come across a Chillingo iPhone game. I really enjoy every feature there is to offer, and just writing about Catapult King makes me want to play. In fact, I'm outta here!

CarTunes Music Player By Ryan Oksenhorn iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

I had to do a review on CarTunes Music Player because it's going to be on my iPhone until it dies. Forget your Music iPhone app and swipe, flick, and pinch to your iPod songs. The interface is beautiful, and the multiple screen touches do what they are supposed to. Are you ready for your instructions, don't zone out on me just yet? While listening to a song, slide up with one finger to see your music category lists, or tap to pause and play. Flick left or right to go to the next or previous song, and hold your swipe to fast forward or rewind. You can pinch to see the album, pinch again to see the artist, and even slide down to tweet.
I saved the best feature for last, since many of us have broken volume controls, or a who the heck made this case, and where do my fingers fit! Simply hold and slide up or down with one finger to colorfully increase or decrease the volume. It's always funny to me when an app is better than the app that comes with your iPhone. I guess we wouldn't have apps like CarTunes Music Player otherwise, so good news for us. CarTunes gets a Summer Olympics Gold Medal in my book, well except without the sweat. It could be a little higher than you normally pay for an app like this depending if it's on sale or not, but either way, it's a good one!

Score! By First Touch Games iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

If you enjoy a good iPhone soccer aka football game, Score! Is the app for you. It's not a full season play as Ronaldo and win the Championship, it's not even a flick the ball and kick penalty or free kicks. Score! is a soccer game where you recreate memorable goals from the past, off plays like free kicks and corner kicks. Instead of flicking or touching a button, you draw your path to the goal on the screen. Sound easy? The control and accuracy of where you draw your path is spot on, not to mention the graphics are nothing to complain about. So if you draw your pass just a tad off, the defender will steal the ball.
You have a button to view the correct path to draw for help, move the camera around the screen to see who's in your way, and bend passes around defenders before one touching it pass the goalie. Score! will keep you busy with 420 levels,140 memorable goals, and different difficulty modes to keep it interesting. I could review a 100 soccer apps, but if you've read other WuzAPPenin reviews, you know something needs to be original, and Score is a must download.

Stringz-HD By WingzStudio iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

If you're an iPhone app puzzle and physics game lover, you know there are a ton of Cut The Rope get three stars type games out there. Well if that's what you like, then you'll enjoy Stringz-HD. You are Z, a one toothed round blue alien, and your goal on top of getting stars, is to drop Z into his rocket. To accomplish that, you draw string lines(to roll) and elastic lines(to bounce) to guide Z around bombs, meteors, enter black holes, and other obstacles. Don't go string crazy, as you are limited to the amount of string and elastic you can use on each level.
There is a free version of Stringz-HD, where you get a decent amount of levels, and you can unlock more planets with levels by getting a certain total number of stars. If you enjoy Stringz-HD Lite, then you can buy the paid version with more levels for a nominal price. What really grabbed my attention with this app, is the amazing touch screen user features to be able to zoom in, erase string, switch between string or elastic, and change your strings angles with ease. This is currently the only app for WingzStudio, and Stringz-HD is a great start!

Waze By Waze Inc iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

I was really trying not to do an iphone app review on Waze because it's that's good of a GPS app, and it's completely free. So if you don't all ready have Waze, you will after this review. If you own an iPhone, I don't need to tell you how poor the maps program is compared to any iPhone app out there. If you're like me, you probably searched through all the GPS apps, and refused to pay a high price for something you can't try first. Waze gives you what you've been looking for at the low price of FREE! You get 3D maps, zoom, speed, voice directions, automatic recalculation, multiple routes, search categories, I could probably add ten more commas to this sentence.
Think you'll only use GPS when you don't know how to get somewhere? Waze allows users to update speed traps, accidents, gas, construction, new roads, and more. That way, you will always want to have Waze on so you know everything between you and your destination. I could tell you about the meet ups and who's got the most points depending on how much you report stuff, but if all you want is a good GPS app for free, it's time to download!

Arrow Mania By GMT Development iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

I enjoyed Arrow Mania because I love when I see a puzzle/race iPhone game with a little originality! You are a metal orb(round object), and your goal is to reach the finish line in the fastest time moving left and right using magnets. "What did he just say?" On your way to the finish line, you can do things like pull back to aim and shoot arrows at planes dropping bombs, pop balloons, or shoot at targets to ride up or down the elevators. Make sure you don't shoot the birds, they get pretty mad!
The free version of Arrow Mania, you're given a limited amount of levels, but if you choose to buy the paid version for a small price, you'll get 30. You can also change the level of difficulty to make it more difficult to beat your best times, which makes it a little more challenging with things like faster bombs, and harder to knock down planes. This is the first iPhone app for GMT Development, and I hope with some good reviews, we'll see some more levels soon for Arrow Mania!

Amazing Alex by Rovio Entertainment LTD iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

If you’re into physics games, you’ll love Amazing Alex by the makers of Angry Birds. Your goal is to hit all three stars on each level, by moving the toy objects in Alex's bedroom to create a chain reaction, while getting his toys in the basket. Depending on the board, to reach all three stars, you use a soccer ball, pop a balloon, knock over books, and many more toys to get the job done. The game starts off easy tutorial style, and shows you exactly what to do, but as you get past a few boards, get ready to use your brain!

Currently there are 100 levels to unlock, and the neat thing is you also will have the ability to build your own levels using 35 objects, and share the levels you created with your friends and vice versa. Just like Angry Birds, you will love the cartoonish colorful graphics, as well as a glitch free game to keep you from pulling your hair out. Rovio doesn’t need any marketing, because if you haven’t played one of their games by now, you’ve been living under a rock, or I guess don’t own a smart phone! If physics games are up your alley, Amazing Alex is a must download.

Darts Night By Appshen Limited iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

If you like to play darts, you will
love Darts Night. The graphics are impecable, and the physics of swiping the darts for an iPhone app are excellent! If I'm going to pay to play an game of darts on my iPhone, I want it to take some skill, and feel like I'm flicking a dart with some accuracy, and you get that. You can play games like 301, 501, and Round the Clock. There are some challenges, and you can play against the computer, pass and play, or online. I like that it shows you your three dart totals at the top, and what you need to hit to win out in your game.
The bad with Darts Night, but hopefully easily updated, is you can only play a limited number of games(no cricket). I would love to see all the games you would see on an electronic dartboard like Killer, Shanghai, and Golf to name a few. Appshen does have another dart iPhone game with some of the other games, but you would have to get both iPhone apps to play more games currently. It's also tough to see exactly what you hit, was that a triple 20? That's enough complaining, because the bottom line is Darts Night is a very well put together iPhone game, and can't wait to see what else they make!

3D Sound Illusions By DevelopmentSquared iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | Email Review | App

First let me start off by saying there are multiple versions of this iPhone app with different names and companies. Pretty confusing to me, so I will try to keep up with whatever version is free. I'd probably make sure someone else is in the room first before you try 3D Sound Illusions, as you could go insane! The intent of this iPhone app is for you to put your headphones on, close your eyes, and listen to different voices and sounds as if they were right next to you. There are a few different clips to listen to, and when I tell you at some points I had to take my (bottom of the line apple) headphones off because it was so realistic, i'm not lying!

What really caught my eye, was the lightbulb in my head that said, "what if I could listen to a TV show or movie with these sounds?" What if instead of staring at a TV screen, I layback on the couch relaxing with my eyes closed, listening to George run by screaming, "I was in the pool!"? My favorites so far are Virtual Haircut and Fireworks, and hopefully if they get enough downloads, we will get some more updates soon! The name 3D Sound Illusions is perfect, because this iPhone app is like watching a 3D movie, but with sounds.

Pool Break By Kinetic Bytes iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

It takes me back to college waiting for my turn to play pool in a bar, and someone yells out, "that's my quarter!" Instead of getting into a drunk altercation with a bunch of frat boys, Pool Break will give you a nice 360 degree realistic pool iPhone game, and a ton of games and options. When I tell you the graphics and smoothness of Pool Break are amazing for an iphone, I mean it.

You can play 8 ball, 9 ball, Snooker, Crokinole, and many more. You can play others online easily and it will even notify you when online players are available. You can change pretty much anything you want about the table and background. If I could add one feature, it would be to have the camera following your shot. Try Pool Break Free first if you don't trust me, but I'm confident you'll end up buying the Paid Version of Pool Break.

Booty Diver Free By Donnerwood Media iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

Be careful playing Booty Diver, as I found myself gasping for air. This iPhone game has pretty decent 3D graphics, and you are a scuba diver grabbing items like treasure chests, crowns and air tanks, before you run out of air or are eaten by sharks. You have six dive sights to choose from, and you begin atop the peacefully realistic ocean waters. The good news is if the sound is on, you get a jaws like sound to warn you a shark is at your toes, but if the sound is off, swim for your life! Sometimes you just feel like pretending you're underwater while at work or on the couch, and Booty Diver is an iPhone game that gives you that feeling.
To control your diver, you move your finger around the screen to swim, and tilt your iphone to look around as well. I'd love to see some updates to be able to harpoon the sharks, or maybe even get in the boat and drive to different locations. If I needed to categorize Donnerwood Media based on what they have in the App Store so far, they are all about the 3D graphics, and Booty Diver is worth a download.

Clear Vision 17+ By FDG Entertainment iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

STOP here if you don't like Stickman iPhone apps! Clear Vision is a Stickman sniper shooter iPhone game that has a nice little story to it. You need to successfully complete 25 missions which involve killing a particular stickman in different situations. What makes it a bit more fun is calculating wind and distance, and sometimes you even get to call your victim before you kill them.
In this iPhone app you are paid for completing your mission, and eventually you can purchase better sniper guns. You can even bet on stickman simulated underground boxing to earn more money. I also got a kick out of the newspaper you can read each day, to read about the people you killed. I expect FDG Entertainment will add new missions hopefully soon, and they also have a good amount of iPhone apps in the app store with good ratings, and Clear Vision is a doctors office waiting room time killer worth download.

Mole Kart By Taomee Entertainment iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

I seem to have this problem trying to find anything close to anything Super Mario, and Mole Kart is just that, the closest iPhone app I've seen to Mario Kart. Half the iphone users seem to have a problem with ripping off Mario type games, but to make an analogy, i'm pretty sure most singers and actors were influenced and inspired by other singers and actors, so "Wuz" the difference! To get the bad out of the way, the Kart is much too small. The graphics are as good as you could ask for in an iPhone app, but it's not as exciting with a Kart that's at least half the size it should be. Past that and the fact the size makes it a little more difficult to control and miss the items in the road, Mole Kart is an app I could see getting better and better.
They all ready have a new version coming later this summer. You've got your usual pick up items off the track, and what ever it turns up as you can use to slow down your opponents. For instance toss the banana peel and bombs, speed boosts, lightning, and many others that are listed in the apps glossary. I also like how you can shake the iPhone when you are going over a jump to go faster, just like you can do with the Wii remote if you've played Mario Kart. You have three play options: item mode, speed mode, and multiplayer local bluetooth or wifi. So if you love Mario Kart like most of us do, I'd stay on top of these developers, as Mole Kart is, and will be a really fun iPhone app game with a few good updates.

Freekick Battle By GAMEVIL iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

For those soccer fans, you can search for a good few hours with all the soccer iPhone apps out there. What I like about Freekick Battle is the colorful clear graphics, and the ability to lose 30 minutes without blinking. Freekick Battle is easy to control, but not always easy to score with defenders in the way. You move your finger around a soccer ball to aim high, low, and bend left or right with the correct power. In your way is a wall of defenders, and of course a moving goalie.

This iPhone app has an online mode where you play against an opponent on a race to 3000 points. If I could change some features, I'd like to see the ability to bend a little further, and some different modes to keep it exciting. GAMEVIL has a ton of iPhone games in the App Store, and Freekick Battle is worth a download.

Mike & Milkbox By Docob Media Service iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

Mike & Milkbox brings a Mario type feel with coins, jumping on blocks, smashing, and a bit of physics. Instead of being a Mario type character, you are a bird in this iPhone game, so hopefully there will be some updates to change characters as it is needed. You can scroll through four different chapters each with six boards.
The physics aspect is pushing boxes and long sticks to help you through your travels. Like all the Mario type iPhone games I have found,Mike & Milkbox isn't going to blow you away with neat features, but my vote is we pay attention to this developer, as they are on the right track.

Augmented Car Finder By AugmentedWorks iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

"This happens every time, you never pay attention!" Have you heard something similar to that before when you've walked around for 30 minutes looking for your car? You could probably find 100 car finding iPhone apps, but what I love about Augmented Car Finder is you get out of your car, you click "Save a new position!", and your done.
When you are ready to head back to the car, you just open the iPhone app, and hold it out in front of you. With Augmented Reality, you just follow the directions while looking at your live camera screen. Never will you ever forget where you parked again. I've used Augmented Car Finder at airport parking garages, downtown, and most importantly, concerts where you head back in the dark to a sea of 10,000 vehicles in a muddy parking lot with complete accuracy.

Swim Meet: Finger Racing By Darwin 3D iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

Well it is Olympic swimming time, so you probably want to pretend you're Michael Phelps or Missy Franklin right? Swim Meet is a very simple yet fun iPhone app. There are 5 different races: freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and 400 m individual medley. You put two fingers down as feet until the race starts, and when the gun goes off, you move your fingers on the screen as it tells you to. The better and faster you move your fingers on the iPhone screen, the faster you'll go. All you can do right now is compare your fastest time on Game Center against the world.

You will have played this whole iPhone game in a matter of five minutes, so at this point it probably will not stay on your iPhone for very long. What would keep this iPhone app on my iPhone longer, is if they could add a little animation to the water, and Ryan Lochte under water as you move your fingers. That way you could see someone swimming which would be much more exciting. Since this iPhone app all ready has the online leader board, I'd also love to see the ability to race against friends and others online, and also see other swimmers next to you, so you know if you need to step it up a notch. I say check Swim Meet out, and if you feel the same as I do, maybe we'll get a nice update soon!

Atlantis Oceans By Sunrise Software iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

I felt myself trying to find some sort of underwater iPhone game, and really found nothing until Atlantis Oceans. You are a male or female scuba diver, and you dive into the depths of the ocean snatching up a slue of different fish. Try and grab multiple of the same fish in a row, and you'll rack up more combo points to spend in the store. You can buy better air tanks, scuba gear, depth, a harpoon to kill sharks, and many other gadgets.

bAs you buy more, you will be able to go deeper into the caves of the ocean, and finally find the treasure to move on to the next ocean somewhere else. No problem right? Except for the fact there are a ton of flesh eating sharks! There is a free version which gives you plenty to try, and if you enjoy like I did, you can purchase their iPhone app for a few bucks. Atlantis Oceans looks like the only iPhone game from Sunrise so far, buy clearly they know what they are doing, and I can't wait to see what's next!
