Riptide GP By Vector Unit iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

I rarely ever download racing games because the controls just never feel right for me, no matter how incredible the graphics are. Well, for some reason I must have been in a FREE downloading mood that day, and I came across Riptide GP. Choose from different jet skis, and race through choppy river waters that bring you right into the screen. [WARNING: DON'T PLAY IN THE RAIN STANDING BY YOURSELF] I decided to review Riptide GP mainly because you can swipe your fingers in different directions to perform tricks off jumps. Who wants to wait for the big yellow jumps? See a nice wave, do a trick off that as well! If you land a trick, you can hit the boost and hit warp speed for a few seconds.
The rest of the game has the same features as other racing games, where you can unlock crafts and new races. The menus are very user friendly for your option to choose from Race, Hot Lap, or Championship. You can change the controls, but I like the default tilt your screen to turn, and touch the left side to brake. Riptide GP is really a fun racing game if you want to get your feet wet for a bit. Also, if you use the word "y'all", or maybe "jeet?" to ask a question when hungry, try Shine Runner!

Arrow Mania By GMT Development iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

I enjoyed Arrow Mania because I love when I see a puzzle/race iPhone game with a little originality! You are a metal orb(round object), and your goal is to reach the finish line in the fastest time moving left and right using magnets. "What did he just say?" On your way to the finish line, you can do things like pull back to aim and shoot arrows at planes dropping bombs, pop balloons, or shoot at targets to ride up or down the elevators. Make sure you don't shoot the birds, they get pretty mad!
The free version of Arrow Mania, you're given a limited amount of levels, but if you choose to buy the paid version for a small price, you'll get 30. You can also change the level of difficulty to make it more difficult to beat your best times, which makes it a little more challenging with things like faster bombs, and harder to knock down planes. This is the first iPhone app for GMT Development, and I hope with some good reviews, we'll see some more levels soon for Arrow Mania!

Mole Kart By Taomee Entertainment iPhone Review

Follow Twitter | E-mail to Friend | App

I seem to have this problem trying to find anything close to anything Super Mario, and Mole Kart is just that, the closest iPhone app I've seen to Mario Kart. Half the iphone users seem to have a problem with ripping off Mario type games, but to make an analogy, i'm pretty sure most singers and actors were influenced and inspired by other singers and actors, so "Wuz" the difference! To get the bad out of the way, the Kart is much too small. The graphics are as good as you could ask for in an iPhone app, but it's not as exciting with a Kart that's at least half the size it should be. Past that and the fact the size makes it a little more difficult to control and miss the items in the road, Mole Kart is an app I could see getting better and better.
They all ready have a new version coming later this summer. You've got your usual pick up items off the track, and what ever it turns up as you can use to slow down your opponents. For instance toss the banana peel and bombs, speed boosts, lightning, and many others that are listed in the apps glossary. I also like how you can shake the iPhone when you are going over a jump to go faster, just like you can do with the Wii remote if you've played Mario Kart. You have three play options: item mode, speed mode, and multiplayer local bluetooth or wifi. So if you love Mario Kart like most of us do, I'd stay on top of these developers, as Mole Kart is, and will be a really fun iPhone app game with a few good updates.
